"Of the 41 passengers, 21 have been rescued," A Siri, a district revenue official, told news agency ANI.
"Among the remaining, the bodies of 11 have been identified so far."
Most of the passengers were asleep when the accident took place and those awake managed to break windows and jump out, India Today news channel reported.
The deadly collision comes after 22 passengers died in a bus fire in the northern state of Rajasthan on October 14.
While India is the world's third-largest car market, it has some of the deadliest roads, with road accidents last year killing about 180,000 people, authorities said in January.
