THOUSANDS of dollars in damage has been caused to 11 parking meters across Echuca in less than 24 hours.

And more money has been lost as six cash boxes were stolen.
Senior Constable Scott Newton of Echuca police said four machines, in Nish St carpark, Annesley, Hare and Nish streets were hit between 4.42am and 5.24am yesterday.
"The machine in Nish St carpark had its cash box stolen and no entry was gained to the other three," he said.
"Damage was caused to the doors and some of the cash boxes."
Later that night, another council-operated machine in High St behind Cotton On was broken into and its cash box stolen about 9.45pm.
Then another six - two in Annesley St, three in Nish St and one in Anstruther St - were damaged between 12.15am and 1am today.
Four had their cash boxes stolen and two were extensively damaged.
Snr Constable Newton said the damage caused was substantial.
"We are reviewing CCTV from nearby businesses and are making inquiries," he said.
"We are asking for any witnesses who may have observed anything suspicious on Sunday or Monday to come forward."
