The Blues, who started the game strongly back but allowed the Rams back into the contest, suffered a five goal loss to end their season.
Coach Lousie Brennan said it was a tough outcome for her side.
“We knew it was going to be a hard game against Deni,” she said.
“They’ve easily been the strongest side this season, they’ve played some brilliant netball all year, so we knew going into the contest that they were going to be very difficult to beat.”
Despite the Rams starting the match as favourites, it was the Blues who were quickest out of the blocks, scoring more than 10 goals in the opening quarter of play, and leading their opposition by more than five at the opening break.
“We knew we were going to have to bring our best from the start of the match, and we were able to do so,” she said.
“We started the game off really strongly and gave ourselves the best possible opportunity to get the result we wanted.”
But the Rams did what good sides do, pulling back the margin early in the second quarter as they took control of the game.
The Rams dominated play, forcing the Blues to make a series of turnovers as they pushed in front.
“Credit to Deni where it is due, they were able to get the game on their terms,” she said.
“You know with a side like that they are going to be able to come back, so I’m proud that our girls took it to them for the remainder of the contest.”
The Rams pushed on, and though Tonny had their moments in the second half, it was too big of a mountain to climb.
Though her side couldn’t claim the silverware, Brennan could not have prouder of her side.
“They’ve worked so hard for this all year,” she said.
“They’ve always had the desire to win, and I’ll always admire how they went about it. Unfortunately that’s sport, you can’t always win them, but it was a fantastic effort.”
