The branch is one of dozens closing across the country, and will close its doors for good following its last day on July 30, with customers encouraged to use branches in Echuca or Kyabram for in-person banking.
Commonwealth Bank regional general manager David Castle said the Rochester branch had experienced a 50 per cent drop in transactions over the past five years.
“Following a recent review and in line with our lease expiry, we made the difficult decision to permanently close our Rochester branch,” Mr Castle said.
“For Rochester customers, we have other branches in the region at Echuca and Kyabram.
“We’ve found that around 25 per cent of customers from Rochester are already visiting these branches.”
Mr Castle said no jobs would be lost as a result of the decision.
“Our people from Rochester branch will be offered redeployment opportunities, including roles in surrounding branches or supporting customers over the phone and online, or other comparable roles where it suits them,” Mr Castle said.
He said banking would be available for personal and business transactions at the Australia Post on Moore St.
“For customers who prefer face-to-face options, Bank@Post is also available up the road at the Rochester LPO Australia Post outlet for personal and business banking transactions,” Mr Castle said.
“This includes withdrawals, deposits and bill payments including passbooks during normal business hours."
He said customers could access accounts 24 hours a day through NetBank or the CommBank app, or over the phone on 13 22 21 from 6 am to 10 pm.
