Shop owners say they are worried about a possible local outbreak.
Neenie B Lightning and Giftware owner Janine Bastow announced her store was closing "until further notice" despite a busy weekend of trade.
“On the weekend, I would say almost 90 per cent of my customers were from out of town,” she said.
“There were some cases where people didn’t care about social distancing or using the hand sanitiser provided because their hands were sore.
“It’s very frustrating because only a few people are letting us down.
“I made the decision to close the shop because of my own health but I guess that is one of the advantages of having my own business.
“I also don’t want to pass on something to my mum who is living in a nursing home.
“I’m grateful to my loyal customers who have been very supportive of my decision.”
The Torrumbarry Hotel Motel made the same decision earlier this week, informing patrons on its Facebook page.
“We are sorry to inform you all that we will be closing the hotel over the school holidays,” the post said.
“We understand that this may not be of popular opinion but with the COVID-19 virus still around we do not want to risk our locals, and our families’ health.
“We apologise for any inconveniences.”
But for others, including Guys and Girls owner Georgie Pearse, stores are doing everything they can to stay open.
“It's as simple as I need to stay open if I want to survive,” she said.
“There is a need for some of my customers to access my services. I've had some people tell me that they're glad I'm open because they wouldn't have anywhere else to go.
“I'm also happy to deliver to my customers because some people are scared to come out and I understand that. If need be, I will don the face mask and gloves to make them feel safer.
“The relationship between my customers and I has never been more important.”
