Besides the nationals, it is the most competitive event of the year, with the best shooters from across the nation taking place.
This weekend, the best shots in Australia will be at the Echuca Clay Target Club, looking to take out the Victorian title.
ECTC president Steve Traill said it was an event the shooting community looked forward to all year.
“We're always excited for the event to come around,” he said.
“It's an event that has become a very important part of the year for Echuca. Being able to host the best shooters from across the country in a major event is something we take great pride in.”
Traill said the event rivaled the national titles in terms of quality.
“You're going to see the best shooters from all around the country taking part in the country,” he said.
“The numbers won't be as high as you would see at the national events, but the quality absolutely is. These shooters want to be against the best opposition they can find, and they want to beat the best. It's why we always have such a good turnout.
“It's also an opportunity to shoot at some of the best facilities the country, it's in a fantastic location where people really want to come to spend a few days.”
But the weekend won't just be dominated by those making the journey into the twin towns - with Echuca's own shooters expected to once again figure heavily at the top of the scoreboard when the event is over.
“This club continues to produce some of the most dominant shooters in the country,” Traill said.
“You have names like Steve Atkins who has been a dominant force in the sport for a long time, through to the up and coming champions like Kiara Dean who are continuing to add to their trophy cabinets.
“We're hoping to see a lot of local success coming out of the carnival.”
The event, which begins today, will run through until Sunday.
