Sunday, March 14, marked the end of the 2020/2021 swimming season, which saw close to 30 events and more than 70 school bookings occur across both Cohuna and Kerang pools since the season began on November 16.
“Whether it was the Morning Swim Program, inflatable fun sessions or the hosting of VicSwim lessons, the Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools continue to be popular facilities for both residents and visitors,” Gannawarra Shire Council chief executive Tom O’Reilly said.
“A dedicated team of lifeguards worked a combined total of close to 5000 hours to ensure both facilities were open during the 118-day season, with the Outdoor Pool Weather Policy implemented four times during the season on days when the maximum temperature was 23 degrees celsius or below.”
Maintenance works will occur at both facilities in the coming months in readiness for the 2021/2022 season.
“Council looks forward to welcoming residents and visitors back to the Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools when the new swimming season begins in November,” Mr O’Reilly said.
In the meantime, residents wanting to keep active in the water during this time are encouraged to use the Kerang Exercise Pool, located in Patchell Plaza.
This facility is open five days of week and is an ideal location for swimming lessons, water aerobics or hydrotherapy.
