A skin check van will be visiting Echuca this month and will be staffed by fully trained, certified and professionally supervised volunteer medical personnel.
Following the skin check, patients will be issued with a referral to their GP if there are any suspect spots.
Lions Club member Barry Higgins spoke to The Riv on the importance of making sure people book to get checked by a medical professional.
“Make a booking as soon as possible, it’s free and will only take 20-25 minutes and you’ll have peace of mind for 12 months until the van returns,” he said.
The Echuca Lions Club, in partnership with Moama RSL and the District Cancer Foundation’s Skin Check and Awareness Unit will be at Echuca’s High St on Saturday, June 17, and Sunday, June 18.
“The last time the van was here, bookings were filled in the first few days,” Mr Higgins said.
It offers patients vital information about skincare and self-checking techniques.
The van is equipped with all modern conveniences to ensure visitors are comfortable with screening rooms, entry foyer and a lift for access at the rear.
To book a free skin cancer screening, local and surrounding areas residents should phone Barry Higgins on 5482 5301.
