If elected, with a collaborative approach through my fellow councillors, I want to get us back to a stable, cohesive environment and focus on council’s core business of securing our town and rural communities best interests.
Financial accountability and a balanced budget is paramount.
The cost of ever increasing rates for town and rural ratepayers is a big issue for many.
My key areas of interest are in creating an environment for potential developments in all areas of Edward River Council.
As many of you are aware, developments create potential jobs and a stable economic environment.
I would particularly like to look at the possibility of encouraging another medical centre in town, along with a strong focus on tourism opportunities.
I also believe a review of where we are at regarding the retirement village is needed, and/or an exit strategy for council’s ownership and ongoing costs to our ratepayers.
There are still many issues around the Murray-Darling Basin Plan that have a huge impact on our entire community, and need to be addressed.
As a councillor, I would look forward to assisting in any way possible with the relevant stakeholders.
As a former Deniliquin councillor, serving a term before our transition to Edward River Council, I have experience in local government and I believe I can serve well.
