The Climate Ready Garden series offers practical advice, hands-on learning, and guidance to address challenges like extreme weather, droughts and floods.
“The Climate Ready Gardens Series is a wonderful initiative that builds on the success of the Costa’s Climate Ready Gardens: Thriving Through Change event,” Strathbogie Shire Council Mayor Claire Ewart-Kennedy said.
“It reflects our council’s commitment to empowering residents with practical tools and knowledge to create sustainable, thriving gardens that contribute to a resilient future.
“Gardens are more than just places of beauty — they’re vital for supporting biodiversity, conserving water, and helping our community adapt to climate change.”
Community members with any level of gardening experience are encouraged to join the workshops taking place in Euroa and Nagambie in February.
“By offering these free workshops, we’re not only helping individuals make a difference in their own backyards but also strengthening our community’s collective resilience to climate challenges,” Cr Ewart-Kennedy said.
Green thumbs and novices alike can attend a two-hour interactive workshop that will cover how gardening can help protect the environment.
That program will run on Thursday, February 13 from 6pm to 8pm at the Euroa Community Conference Centre and online.
There’s also a six-hour course that will run over two days to help participants design a garden space that’s climate ready, including information on drought and flood resilient gardens, attracting native wildlife and working with local soils.
The two-day course will run in Nagambie on Thursday, March 6 and Thursday, March 13 from 4pm to 7pm at the Nagambie Lakes Regatta Centre.
It will also run in Euroa on Wednesday, March 26 and Wednesday, April 2 from 10am to 1pm at the Euroa Community Conference Centre.
Places in all workshops are limited, and bookings are essential.
