“We used to do it annually, but due to COVID we haven’t been able to do it since 2019,” one of the organisers, Bec Downie, said.
“It’s a brunch for local women — we do have people coming from Melbourne and Shepparton to attend — and it’s just a time for women to get together, to have fun, connect with each other, and eat a really good brunch.
“We do a theme every year — we’ve had Pink Lace, Tropical, all sorts of things — and this year is a floral high tea.”
Like its predecessors, this year’s event is expected to sell out quickly, especially after the cancelled events.
“(The brunch) usually sells out within the day that we put the tickets on sale: people line up outside before we open for tickets,” Ms Downie said.
“It’s so hard, we try not to disappoint people, but there are only so many tickets we can sell.”
The brunch — which has been running for more than a decade — features a market of stalls selling local produce and small businesses, a fully catered brunch, live music, a guest speaker, and prizes and giveaways.
This year’s event will also honour a “woman who shines” in our community with an award.
“We also do a Woman Who Shines Award, and we ask people to nominate women in the community who are doing good, who are working hard, making a real difference in our community, and then we as a committee go through all the nominations,” Ms Downie said.
“It’s really hard to pick sometimes, and we select one woman, then we get to honour her on the day: we give her a big hamper with gift vouchers that we’ve purchased from local businesses, and donations from all of our stall holders.
“If people would like to nominate someone, they can email us, send us a message on Facebook, or come in and fill out a nomination form.”
