The combatants of the Murray, Goulburn Valley, Heathcote and Picola leagues’ football and netball competitions have been hard at it since the Christmas break ended.
Before we know it, the summer sports finals will be upon us and preparation for the winter competition will step up with the practice match schedule.
Tongala Football Netball Club had plans of winning its first senior premiership since 1983 frustrated last year when the Murray League’s finals series was called off due to COVID-19 restrictions.
On Monday evening, Alex Williams and Jack Hammond were among the Tongala footballers involved in a gruelling running session, along with key defender Corey Nexhip.
At the neighbouring netball courts there were more than 30 players involved in a session that was very similar in intensity to what was happening on the main oval. Among the participants was all-round sport star Sienna Johnstone.
