The Australian Library and Information Association chooses an age appropriate book each year for storytime that explores meaningful themes.
Victorian Local Government Minister Nick Staikos said reading was a powerful developmental force for children.
“That’s why I’m so pleased to read this year’s National Simultaneous Storytime book, The Truck Cat, a heartwarming story about identity, loneliness and home,” he said.

The event aims to highlight the benefits of literature by showcasing a new story that teaches kids about important and relevant issues in a fun way.
Last year, more than 2.3 million young Australians in 21,000 different locations took part in the event.
