The event, held on Sunday, June 22, at the Echuca Hotel car park, drew a substantial crowd throughout the day.
Organised by volunteers Giselle, Maddie and Hazel, the fundraiser included raffles, auctions and a GoFundMe campaign.
“Sunday went really well. We had a good turnout and we ended up raising $24,000, but we are still counting,” Echuca Shave committee member Hazel Voss said.
Seth Dean had plenty of hair to remove.
Participants could bid to cut volunteers’ hair on stage, with some family members joining in the experience.
“I did cut my dad’s hair. My little sister and I got to,” Ms Voss said.
“It actually suits him. I think a lot of people were surprised, but it looks very good.”
Justin Voss emceed the event and was one of the volunteers to have his head shaved.
The funds will support local families dealing with cancer-related expenses.
“The money raised will be divided up and handed out to families in our community that are struggling, people affected by cancer,” Ms Voss said.
“If people out there have people or families in mind that need a little support, a little bit extra money towards treatment, accommodation, travel, food, pretty much anything, tell them to get in touch with the shave crew and we can try and sort something out, because we are still looking for people who need help.”
The organisers acknowledged numerous businesses for their support, including Echuca Hotel, Echuca Printers, JLV Designs, Rich River Party Hire, I want I need, Switched on Electronics and Moama Bakery.

Ms Voss gave a special shout-out to Daniel Buckley for his massive donation and the about 28 volunteers who shaved or cut their hair.
“Thank you to everybody showing up and thanks to all the amazing volunteers,” she said.
“It was really emotional the whole day. It was a really long day, but everyone put in the best efforts.
“We did have one chicken out, but then we had about four people come up on the day.

The committee is still seeking families who need assistance with cancer-related expenses such as treatment, accommodation, travel and food.
It is already considering holding another event in 2026.
