Giant Echuca EMCC Cyclocross Race 2
A smaller crowd of 11 riders were greeted with perfect sunny conditions for our second winter cyclocross race.
In a combined A/B-grade, Shane Roberts stood out as the class rider in the field, he was joined by Cam Smith, while Myles Higgins, Dazz Kruger and Will Kettle stepped up after good performances last week.
C-grade saw visitors Luke Moore, David MacAuley and Murray MacKenzie join Matt Dobeli, while D-grade saw John and daughter Georgie Jenkins going head-to-head.
Shane Roberts broke away from the group early, and the big contest was between the potential place getters.
Dazz Kruger was riding well, Cam Smith was using his power on the gravel, while Will Kettle came to the boil again on his slick tyres.
In the end, it was Shane Roberts a clear winner from Will Kettle and Myles Higgins.
In C-grade, Luke Moore, David MacAuley and Murray MacKenzie looked the goods as they rode clear, while once again Matt Dobeli was found sharing his true feelings on the difficulties of Cx racing with George Griffiths while still on lap 1.
After some impressive riding, it was Luke Moore the winner from David MacAuley in second and Murray MacKenzie in third.
If you'd thought that Georgie might take it easy on her dad John then you'd be wrong.
She set off at a frightening pace and had caught the rear of C-grade by lap 2.
She continued her strong ride all the way to the finish, with John in second.
Thanks to those who helped set up and pack up today, and to our race director H and of course a big thanks to our sponsors Giant Echuca.
Our next race is in three weeks' time on the gravel at Rochester (weather depending) on Saturday 19/7, with our mid-winter time-trial on Sunday 20/7.
