Employees received gifts from the service and a letter of thanks from chief executive John Dean to mark the day.
Mr Dean said he often used an analogy to describe the crucial work every employee did at Echuca Community for the Aged.
“Our team of staff is like a big wheel with a lot of different spokes, and each department is one of the spokes on the wheel,” he said.
“It doesn’t matter whether you’re in catering, cleaning, administration, maintenance, or nursing — if one of those spokes breaks, the care is not delivered, and the wheel doesn't go around.”

At Intereach Echuca, care co-ordinator Emma Retallick has had the privilege of supporting many of her clients for years.
Formerly a community support worker, Ms Retallick said she “absolutely loves” working with clients, and finds her role extremely fulfilling.

“The bonds you build in this role are so special. I treat every client like they’re part of my own family, and I give them the kind of care and respect I’d want for my loved ones,” she said.
“Every day, I feel incredibly lucky to make a real difference in their lives. I’m here to support them, whether they need a helping hand, a listening ear, or simply someone who cares.”
To celebrate the day, Intereach held morning teas across its footprint — from southern NSW to central Victoria — to thank aged care workers for all they do.
