Following Campaspe Shire Council’s announcement it was withdrawing from delivering the service in July, the Victorian Government was tasked with choosing a new provider.
At the time, Mayor Daniel Mackrell said the decision was about “strengthening access to accessible, well-managed and consistent services for children”.
In a statement, the hospital said it would work with the council and government to facilitate a smooth transition of the service.
From January 19, the hospital will continue to deliver maternal and child health (or MCH) services from existing locations across Campaspe Shire.
As a result, patients will not need to change where they attend appointments, ensuring continuity of care and convenience for local families.
The council will continue to deliver immunisation services through an external provider.
The Victorian MCH services play a vital role in promoting health, wellbeing, safety, learning and developmental outcomes for children and their families across the state.
The services are offered to all children from birth to school age, supporting parents, families and carers in raising happy and healthy children.
Victorian families can continue to contact the MCH Line on 13 22 29 seven days a week, any hour of the day.
Any inquiries relating to appointments up until this time should be referred to Campaspe Shire Council by phoning 1300 644 964.
