The club held a mixed open fours tournament (any combination) at Moama Bowling Club on Monday, February 9.
A strong contingent of bowlers was on hand, the proceeds of the event going to support the team with expenses related to competing in the Edinburgh Shield.
The event has been running since 1954 and is to support and honour service members, with club affiliates also participating.
About 1500 players compete in the tournament each year.
RSL clubs across the state compete at more than a dozen venues in April with each location crowning a pennant winner and those winners’ performances compared to crown a champion.
Last year, one of two competing Moama RSL sides won the event held at Barham, placing third overall.
In 2026, two more RSL sides will be competing, one travelling to Cobram, while the other will remain close to home and battle in Echuca.
At Monday’s fundraiser, RSL team members showed off a new playing strip, which was acquired with support from Moama Bowling Club.
The design stays true to the RSL’s armed forces heritage in a new green colour scheme.
The updated shirts will make their competitive debut at this year’s Edinburgh Shield on April 11 and 12.
