Clean Up Australia Day is back again, with schools, businesses and community groups doing their part in keeping Australia clean this February and March.
Campaspe Shire Council is encouraging people to sign themselves up and pitch in to keep our area clean.
If Clean Up events are happening on council or crown land, council can provide free wheelie bins to be wheeled out to your area to assist in the efforts.
Council will then pick the bins up at the end of the event, free of charge.
Alternatively, council can provide vouchers for free disposal of collected waste at Campaspe’s resource recovery centre.
Mayor Daniel Mackrell said Clean Up Australia Day had always delivered benefits for our shire’s environment and the community, and council was proud to help out where it could.
“With strong community support, we can reduce the amount of litter ending up in our streets, parks, bushland and waterways,” he said.
“Even small amounts of rubbish can have a significant impact on native wildlife and the overall appearance of our neighbourhoods.
“When public spaces are clean, we all benefit.”
While Clean Up Australia Day is March 1, the Business Clean Up Day is Tuesday, February 24 and Schools Clean Up Day is Friday, February 27.
