Telstra will be upgrading its mobile base station that services Moama, with works taking place from Monday, February 23 to Friday, February 27.
The upgrades will enhance 4G service reliability and introduce new 5G coverage to the area, significantly improving mobile performance and reducing network congestion.
From Monday to Wednesday, users can expect a complete service outage.
Thursday and Friday will see intermittent disruptions, with reduced network capacity.
During this period, Telstra customers can maintain phone and text services by activating Wi-Fi Calling — a complimentary feature that enables calls and texts through customers’ wi-fi connections.
Telstra recommends business owners contact their bank to connect EFTPOS terminals via NBN or wi-fi to ensure uninterrupted transactions during the upgrade.
Telstra regional general manager Jenny Gray said the upgrades were necessary to delivering faster downloads and smoother streaming.
With 5G joining Moama, she said it represented a significant step forward for the region.
“While some disruption is required while the upgrade is under way, we’ll only be switching off the site when we need to and will have it back online and working better than ever as quickly as possible,” Ms Gray said.
