A $6000 increase on the result from the inaugural event in 2025, committee member Adrian Dario said plans are already underway for 2027 and beyond.
Motorbikes, classic cars and a pre‑booked shuttle bus of participants who preferred not to drive themselves made their way through multiple stops across the Edward River Council area.
At each stop, participants received a single playing card.
At the final stop, the player with the best poker hand wins a cash prize.
The rest of the money made of entry fees, raffles and other fundraising is donated to support locals with cancer.
“We had more than 150 entries this year, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed all the activities.
“We were hosted by the Blighty Football & Netball Club, the Pretty Pine Hotel, the Conargo Hall committee, and Peter and Maria Strongman at the White Lion Hotel in Deniliquin.
“Our town, and quite a few visiting participants, were very generous in supporting this event and should be proud of the amount we raised.
“We also thank Deniliquin Can Assist’s volunteers for their support, and their integrity in helping people in our community.
“We think this event can only grow from here.”
Mr Dario said it was by happy coincidence that the Deniliquin Poker Run coincided with a special event at Conargo this year, which he said added to the enjoyment.
The hall committee hosted a ‘Conargo: A Day With Legends’ family fun day, to complement the NSW State Whipcracking Titles at the hall grounds.
Mr Dario said the success of the combined events may guide planning for future Poker Runs.
