Keoni Anderson, Patrick Oliver and Charlie Voss have been taking part in a selection camp this week with 61 other players and will be hoping to be among the lucky few to make the team.
EMBA president Lisa Baker said it would be a great achievement for any of the three to make the team.
“It just shows that these are some great up-and-coming kids from Echuca and we are very, very proud of them,’’ Baker said.
Baker said the trio being part of the selection squad, and hopefully the state school team, provides a great example for other players with the association.
“It’s good because it shows other kids that hard work does pay off,” she said,
“It shows that getting into the Pirate program can benefit them to go onto the next level and the one after that.”
The trio played for the Pirates’ under-14 side at the Junior Country Championships earlier this year.
They also played in the Echuca Domestic Competition, with Voss and Anderson also playing in the Bendigo Basketball Association Junior Domestic Competition.
