An Undying Day in Orbit (A.U.D.I.O) is back together and back in town for the first time in a decade.
Hayden Butcher, Nathan Ebert, Gareth Leach and Cameron Lofthouse started the band while attending Echuca High School.
“We formed the band in our first year at Echuca High School,” Mr Lofthouse said.
“It all started on a road trip to see Silverchair play in 1997 — they absolutely blew us away, and by the time we got back to Echuca, the plan to start our own band had formed.”
Mr Lofthouse said it had been four years since the band’s most recent gig, but a decade since they last played in Echuca.
“Once we caught wind that our 20-year high school reunion was happening, we all knew it was the perfect time to resurrect the band,” he said.
“This is the only performance at the moment, though there's undeniable chemistry when we play together. So perhaps it'll be a catalyst for a more significant comeback.”
The band will be performing their favourite hits from the 1990s and 2000s, from bands such as Blink 182, Motor Ace, The White Stripes and Nirvana, plus some of their original rock tunes.
“There are a bunch of songs we've never recorded that would be fun to put to tape, and some people are already requesting a show in Melbourne,” Mr Lofthouse said.
“We want to send a big thanks to Ashley Scurrah from Events on the Murray for supplying the sound system and lighting.”
Fellow classmate Shellie Kornmann will also be playing as A.U.D.I.O’s opening act on the night, playing covers of songs from acts such as Radiohead, Elliott Smith and You Am I.
The show begins at 7pm this Friday at Tara’s Hall Hotel in Pakenham St, Echuca. Entry is free.
