Fighting Trigeminal Neuralgia (Fighting TN) hosted a successful fundraising day recently at the Echuca Aquatic Reserve raising more than $8500 to go towards research into the disease.

Fighting TN event organiser Emily Davis said the event raised four times the amount that it did in 2019.

“The money we raised goes directly to research into Trigeminal Neuralgia and links in with any other facial pain as well,” Ms Davis said.

“We have established a grant at the Brain Foundation to ensure that the funds are being spent on Trigeminal Neuralgia.

The organisation began in 2018, after Ms Davis’s mother was diagnosed with the condition and couldn’t find any suitable treatments.

“My mum went through a whole heap of brain surgeries and medications, but she got to the point where nothing was working and there was no path forward,” she said.
“She had had enough of not being able to get any medical answers, so she started up the not-for-profit organisation Fighting TN, with her best friend.”

The Fighting TN community fundraiser was a gathering of 34 stalls including coffee, food and live entertainment.

“It was a massive turnout and hence a very successful event,” Ms Davis said.
“I would like to pass on my mum’s and my thanks to everyone who came along to support the Fighting TN.”
