Young cricketers will fill the fields again at the weekend, the first cab off the ranks for the GMC this season.
Under-14 and under-16 cricket will get the 2021-22 season under way, starting with Thursday evening hit-outs, before Friday night cricket returns for the start of a two-day fixture.
Saturday then marks the beginning of the under-16 T20 competition, with quarter-finals, semi-finals and a grand final taking place throughout the day.
Master Blasters cricket starts on Sunday, November 7.
“It’s been nice to have the kids out playing cricket again — dusting out a few of the cobwebs,” Echuca Cricket Club junior co-ordinator Rob Hogan said.
Echuca is fielding seven junior teams from Master Blasters through to under-16s and youth girls.
“We’re trying to get as many numbers as we can and finalise our teams,” Hogan said.
“There’s plenty of spots for kids to play.”
Senior cricket remains a week away, kicking off on Saturday, November 13 before the women’s grades commence on November 14.
