Northern United’s Angus McKindlay raised the bat for the first century of the season, clubbing 104 runs in his side’s 156-run victory over Nondies-Cohuna.
Clayton Thompson’s 79 helped United post an imposing 7-261, dismissing Nondies for 105 in reply.
Elmore picked up a 10-wicket win over Echuca South, on the back of a remarkable Pierce Cail five-wicket haul.
Cail did not concede a run in his destructive two-over spell, claiming figures of 5-0 to restrict the Swans to 70 runs.
Matt Gilmour (12) and James Harney (50) made light work of the run chase, chasing down the required runs in 10 overs.
Meanwhile, Bamawm-Lockington United also picked up a 10-wicket win to start the season.
BLU restricted Leitchville-Gunbower to 88 runs as Tom Morris, Jack Morris, and Alex Wagner each picked up two wickets, Jason Keath’s 33 the only bright spark for L-G.
In reply, Darrell Holgate (62) and Kade Pearse (22) finished unbeaten after passing L-G in the 15th over.
Stanhope and Moama each picked up three-wicket wins to open up their accounts, while Echuca were forced to fight for a 26-run victory over Kyabram Fire Brigade.
Rushworth earned a five-wicket triumph over Rochester to round out B-grade action.
Gus Underwood Shield (C-grade)
Adam Neumann’s 53 was a towering innings in Tongala’s score of 9-77 against Girgarre, but the total wouldn’t be enough to stave off their opposition, who claimed an eight-wicket win.
Moama exacted some revenge in the C-grade grand final rematch against Echuca, recovering from 5-36 to post a first-innings score of 147 thanks to Luke Teasdale (49) and Mark Van Poeteren (33)
Scott McCallum led the way for Echuca in the run chase with 28, but it wasn’t enough as they were bundled out for 69.
Van Poeteren wrapped up a big game with figures of 3-1, while Andrew McIntosh also claimed three wickets.
Stanhope’s 121 runs was enough to defeat to Fire Brigade at Kyabram Secondary College, with Jack Hepburn’s 4-19 key in dismissing Kyabram for 85.
The fixtures between Echuca South and Rochester as well as Nondies-Cohuna and BLU did not go ahead because of forfeitures.
Peter Raglus Shield (D-grade)
Defending low totals continued to be the order of business in D-grade as well after Kyabram Fire Brigade fired with the ball against Cooma.
Corey Carver’s 54 helped Fire Brigade to a score of 124, with Stuart and Kane Burt combining for six wickets for the Two Blues.
Three wickets to Michael Cottrell helped bowl Cooma out for 69.
A low-scoring affair between Rushworth and Bamawm-Lockington United went the way of BLU, successfully defending 67 to claim a seven-run win.
The clash between Girgarre and Tongala did not go ahead because of a forfeit, while Echuca had the bye.
