After seeing junior product Marty Hore make a seamless transition into the AFL in 2019, the Bombers are hoping Logan Prout could one day follow in his footsteps.
During the off-season, Prout trained with Collingwood’s VFL side only to reject a rookie place with the team — deciding he needed another year at local level.
And on Saturday, Prout continued his sensational 2019 against Heathcote, leading his side to a 29-point victory in the Heathcote District Football League.
‘‘There’s no doubt he can make the step next year,’’ Leitchy-Gunny coach Danny Teskera said.
‘‘The way Logan is able to intercept the ball at half-back is an absolute pleasure to watch. As a club we want to push our players to another level.
‘‘If we see someone pushing themselves to their limits we see it as a success.’’
While Prout dictated the tempo of the clash in the back half, Jack Dye and Tyler Jones produced the perfect display inside forward 50 — kicking three goals apiece.
‘‘Jack gave us a target all day with some great leads,’’ Teskera said.
‘‘Even when he wasn’t being kicked the ball he was creating space for his teammates, which is one of the most underrated aspects of the forward craft.
‘‘Tyler gave us a great option as a bail out kick with his strong contested marking.’’
Leitchville-Gunbower will now look to solidify their place in the top five when they travel to take on Colbinabbin.
