Total funding of $2 million has been reserved for the works, including a $300,000 grant from the Commonwealth-funded rural general practice grants program.
Chair of the KDHS board of directors Nicole Ryan said the health service was delighted to be able to work in partnership with long-term tenant Kyabram Regional Clinic.
“It will be a state-of-the-art facility that will deliver improved and increased medical services through additional consulting spaces,” she said.
Principal director of Kyabram Regional Clinic Dr Rob Brun said he believed the redevelopment would be beneficial for the community.
“A new medical practice in Kyabram will better enable experienced doctors to provide increased levels of teaching and training for junior and trainee doctors, thereby attracting and retaining more doctors for Kyabram,” he said.
Member for Murray Damian Drum said the federal government wants all Australians to have access to quality health services.
“I believe strong quality care provides opportunity for earlier intervention and better patient outcomes,” he said.
Development works are expected to commence this year and be completed mid-2021.
