The Echuca-Moama Rotary Club has asked primary students to get their pencils and textas ready to enter the Echuca-Moama Steam Rally themed-colouring competition.
The club has worked with schools in the twin towns and distributed the images for students to take on.
They are also encouraged the take the picture from today’s Riverine Herald and colour until their heart is content.
Artist and Rotary Club member Elenor Bridge came back from a 20-year break for the chance to design the picture the children will be colouring.
‘‘It will be good to get the word out about the steam rally and what a great event it is,’’ Ms Bridge said.
‘‘Hopefully it will encourage children and parents to come along and enjoy the rally.’’
Her image has already been coloured by a few lucky youngsters to show others how it’s done.
After creating their artwork, families are encouraged to submit their pieces to businesses around Echuca such as Hip Pocket in Pakenham St, Echuca Heritage Sweet Company in High St and Murray River Paddle Steamers on Murray Esplanade.
Some artworks will be chosen and displayed in the children’s precinct at the rally before they’re judged with prizes to be awarded.
First prize will be $500 to go to the winning student’s school, second prize will be $300 and third $200.
All primary school children will be admitted into the rally for free.
The Echuca-Moama Steam Rally will go full steam ahead over the Queen’s Birthday Weekend on June 8 and 9 at Rotary Park.
