AN ECHUCA man is behind bars after a string of burglaries, thefts and criminal damage across the region.

Jaike Wallace, 28, appeared in Echuca Magistrates Court yesterday charged with almost 20 offences over the past month.
The charges include criminal damage at Rochester’s SportsPower and Mitre 10 and burglary, theft and criminal damage at Caltex service station, all on March 23.
Wallace has also been charged with criminal damage and theft at Kyabram’s Squirters Car Wash and burglary and theft at Kyabram Subway on the same day, as well as another burglary at Subway and burglary and theft at Kyabram IGA on April 17.
Overnight on April 16-17, Wallace allegedly committed three counts of theft from a vehicle at Echuca’s Department of Primary Industries in Annesley St.
He is also accused of a burglary and theft at Tongala IGA on Easter Sunday and theft of a car from St Albans on Monday.
Detective Sergeant Troy Wickham of Echuca Criminal Investigation Unit said Wallace was arrested in the stolen car in Tongala on Monday.
Det. Sgt Wickham said Wallace was also facing charges of dealing with proceeds of crime and handling stolen goods, with further charges expected to be laid.
He has been remanded in custody to appear in Echuca Magistrates Court on June 4.
