Applications are open for this year’s seniors grants program which provides up to $1000 in funding.
‘‘Council is committed to increase the connectivity and wellbeing of it’s older citizens and the seniors grants program is a way of achieving this,’’ mayor Adrian Weston said.
The program forms part of the strategic direction within the council plan to build strong and engaged communities.
‘‘With a quarter of Campaspe’s population being over 60 years of age, council recognises the importance of supporting community groups offering opportunities for seniors via the program,’’ Cr Weston said.
Applications will be assessed by a selected panel and will be based on the strength of the project along with the benefit it will provide to the community.
‘‘Preference will be given to projects that demonstrate a commitment to positive ageing concepts and with the annual Seniors Festival occurring in October, now is the perfect time to apply for a grant to assist with activity costs,” Cr Weston said.
Applications close on Friday, August 9.
Successful applicants are expected to be notified by the end of August in preparation for Seniors Week in October.
Information and application forms are available from council’s website under the ‘now open’ section – campaspe.vic.gov.au — or you can contact council’s community programs co-ordinator on 54812200 or email j.ibbeson@campaspe.vic.gov.au
