Campaspe Highway Patrol Senior Constable Bren Lodi said the German, a man in his 50s, had to be cut out of his car by Echuca Search and Rescue after it rolled three times after the collision.
“At approximately 11:10am a Subaru station wagon was travelling west along Bangerang Rd,” Sen. Const Lodi said.
“The driver was travelling at slow speed and turned right from the road onto a track beside the Murray River,” he said.
“He failed to indicate and turned into the path of a Toyota utility driven by a 30-year-old Echuca male.
“The Toyota collided with the driver’s side door of the Subaru causing it to roll three times.”
Sen. Const Lodi said the driver of the Toyota was uninjured and rendered assistance to the driver and passenger of the Subaru.
He said the driver of the Subaru was unconscious and the passenger sustained minor injuries.
The German driver was attended to by paramedics and had to be extricated from the car before he could be properly treated.
Sen. Const Lodi said police closed Bangerang Road for about an hour while emergency services dealt with the accident.
“ Drivers must take all possible care while driving, especially in 100km/h areas, he said.
“Pay attention to what you are doing, be aware of other road users around you and concentrate.”
