U16s — Echuca Moama 6 def. SYC/Benalla/Strikers 4
It didn’t take long for the opposition to get on the board, with a deflection in the opening minutes putting the River Rats on the back foot.
But Sam Lowndes wasn’t going to let his team stay behind, moving quickly down the field to lock the scores up.
Not long after, a short corner saw Lowndes score again with Chloe Kell, Jenna Park, Ryan Smith and Thomas Kerr all playing strongly in attack.
With the EM goalies blocking everything in sight, Chloe broke through to put another on the board for the Rats.
Though the Rats defence was brilliant all day, eventually the dam wall had to break, with their opponents breaking through for their second of the day.
The resistance of the opposition didn’t last long, with Chloe again scoring, and Ryan getting on the board not long after.
Elyse Kerr would add another goal for the Rats, with the opposition adding two more in the 6-4 win.

B Women — Echuca Moama 4 def. SYC 0
The Rats were unstoppable against their Shepparton rivals SYC on Saturday, not even the rain and freezing cold winds could stop the formidable team.
Throughout the first half the team worked well together to keep pressure on the SYC players.
Tina Dennett worked well with Chloe Kell, Rebecca Martyn and Alyssa Letto to get the ball into the scoring zone.
Youngsters Jenna Park, Tess Harvey and Olivia Mathers had many shots on goal, putting pressure on the SYC goalie, and they were rewarded with two goals to Tess and one to Olivia.
SYC fought hard to apply pressure on the experienced midfield and defensive Echuca players, but to no avail. Lexi Kell, Narelle Thompson and Sally Thompson worked meticulously together to stop the attacking advances.
The second half saw changes in the game, SYC changed to a defensive style blocking the advances of the Echuca strikers and only allowing one more goal in — Rebecca Martyn finding a way past the talented and experienced SYC goalie.
All players played the game in the right spirit, great sportsmanship and lots of laughs had by all.
B Men — Echuca Moama 6 def. SYC 4
Echuca men started really well, creating numerous shots at goal in the first half, but were unable to convert their dominance on the field to the scoreboard.
Echuca was able to score a goal from a penalty corner after the siren to lead at half time.
The second half was played in a similar manner, with Echuca controlling the play and SYC getting their chances on the counter attack.
Echuca finishing the game with a 6-4 win.
