Beginning in Wangaratta, a group of around 50 riders, led by Corowa’s own Reg Clancy, revved their engines driving though Yarrawonga, Mulwala and onto Corowa to help spread the message of depression awareness and suicide prevention.
The group battled the tough weather conditions and heavy rain but still took the time to converge in Bangerang Park, Corowa to hear speeches from the Amaranth Foundation.
Wangaratta ride co-ordinator Rodney Glare said he was pleased with day and thanked the riders for participating in the event.
“Considering the rain, we had a pretty good turnout. The speeches from the Amaranth Foundation were fantastic. It was a shame about the weather, but this year provides a great foundation for going bigger and better next year,” Mr Glare told The Free Press.
The Black Dog Ride one-dayer began in 2009 aiming to raise awareness about the ‘black dog” of depression. Today, over 40 groups across Australia are now involved in the event each year raising millions of dollars for mental health programs.
