Neale gave the Cats a massive scare when he clashed knees with Carlton ruckman Marc Pittonet in Wednesday night's pre-season match.
The athletic forward, who kicked 44 goals last year, was in serious pain holding his right knee, with many onlookers and pundits fearing he had injured his posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) due to the knee-on-knee contact.
But the Cats later confirmed Neale had suffered a shin knock and were confident he would be "fine" for next Friday's opening round clash with Gold Coast.
When asked if it made him consider who went in those ruck contests, Cats assistant James Kelly said: "Yeah, probably.
"How you deploy your athletic guys is always a question across the AFL.
"I know that there are teams that don't like to put key forwards in there. We're generally not one of those. The flexibility within our team is something we value.
"I can't speak for other teams, but I think for us we value the flexibility and we like having guys in there that can jump and can run. But I'm sure some teams will certainly think about it."
Geelong also expect Jeremy Cameron (quad) to be "fine" and are "pretty confident" Bailey Smith (calf) will face the Suns, but are less confident on Gryan Miers (thumb).
The Neale-Pittonet knee clash happened just days after Melbourne captain Max Gawn expressed concerns to AAP about how the new ruck rules, which encourage jumping over wrestling, could lead to more PCL injuries.
"Hopefully if they're up vertical and not in, that could maybe prevent the PCL - Â because that's the one we're probably worried about," Carlton backline coach Ash Hansen said.
"But I guess time will tell - that's the thing with bringing in these new rules, we've probably got to see a greater body of work and evidence to suggest if that's going to occur."
Under new rules, rucks are forbidden from crossing the centre line before engaging with their opponents, while umpires will throw the ball up rather than bouncing it.
Apart from the Neale incident, there was also a confusing moment where Geelong ruck Sam De Koning jumped and overshot the ball, but Pittonet was penalised for stepping over the line and taking possession.
"We'll seek clarity on what that looks like," Hansen said.
"I guess we're still adjusting to that. When you're looking at the ball, you're looking at your opponent, that fine line it's hard not to cross on occasions
"So I think there's got to be some wriggle room where you might give a couple (of free kicks) up but it's not deliberate. So we'll reflect on that and give our rucks the best chance to learn and express their craft."
