Echuca Moama is about to become the most wonderfully mad destination in Australia with 'Wonderland on the Murray'– a spectacular sand sculpture trail that'll have you questioning reality from December 13, 2025 to March 9, 2026.
Picture this: eight massive handcrafted sand installations stretching between the historic Port of Echuca and Kerrabee Reserve in Moama, all bringing Lewis Carroll's beloved tale to sandy, sculptural life.
Created by the wizards at Sandstorm Events, this is Australia's first Alice in Wonderland sand sculpture trail– so you'll literally be making history just by wandering through.
But wait, there's more madness!
The fun doesn't stop at admiring these incredible sandy masterpieces.
Throughout the trail period, you can catch roving performers including Gastropodia - a giant musical snail with an impish rider, the flirtatious Marquisa D'or who's clearly lost her way from the 17th century, and mesmerising performances by FireLily Dance that'll leave you spellbound.
Fancy a silent disco adventure?
Guru Dudu's got you covered on January 17 and February 21 with headphone-wearing, flash-mob dancing around the sculptures.
For music lovers, Cedar Collective will perform among the sand art on Saturday, January 24, 2026 with two shows at 6:30pm-7:30pm and 8:30pm-9:30pm at the Port of Echuca Pop Up Park.
Families can dive into hands-on creativity at Sandsation stations, join the Great Family Sand Sculpt Off on January 31 and March 1, or explore the jam-packed January school holiday program at Campaspe Regional Libraries featuring everything from paper sandcastles to Mad Hatter tea parties.
This free, family-friendly outdoor art experience is a collaboration between Murray River Council, Campaspe Shire Council, and Campaspe Port Enterprise– proving that when councils work together, magic happens.
Don't be late for this very important date – Wonderland awaits on the Murray!
