A Saturday night at the club could have turned into a disaster if not for the staff and bystanders who were there to lend a hand.
“I'd not long come out of hospital in Bendigo and we went out for dinner,” Mrs Marshall said.
“We were standing at the bar and John said he needed to sit and all of a sudden he was on the floor.”
Almost instantly, people moved to help the couple.
“In about half a minute, we had people checking to see if he was okay and people looking after me,” Mrs Marshall said.
“A few of the club workers got John into a wheelchair and took him into the bistro until the ambulance arrived.
“All the while, there were people looking after me too.”
Mr Marshall was taken to Echuca Regional Health where staff monitored his blood pressure overnight.
“The staff got the courtesy bus around the front and the lovely driver helped me up into the bus and took me home,” she said.
“And once John got home, he was concerned about his car so he called the club and one of the drivers dropped it off at home.”
Mrs Marshall said they couldn't thank everyone enough for their help that night.
“It was so heartwarming to see people we don't even know help us when we needed them most,” she said.
“It really restores your faith in humanity.”
