The council's infrastructure acting general manager Daniel Basham said applications were open until the end of October, allowing time for orders to be placed, received, and then scheduled for planting between May and August next year.
“Applications capture requests for a new street tree, replacement of an existing tree, or removal and replacements of a tree,” Mr Basham said.
“For new trees, residents are asked to help with the initial care and watering of the tree, particularly in the first year while the tree gets established.”
Applications are assessed by the council's arboriculture officer, taking into account a number of factors including neighbourhood character, height of the tree species, local conditions, and climate.
