Sections of the road have been reduced to gravel, and Barmah residents have been complaining on social media about the state of the road, which links the district with Echuca-Moama.
A spokesperson for council said Barmah Rd was heavily impacted by floodwater and suffered significant damage as a result.
This includes sections where the sealed pavement had been washed away and rock or gravel has been used during emergency works to regain access.
Council is currently finalising submissions to Transport for NSW for its approval to restore roads to their previous conditions.
The spokesperson said for Barmah Rd, seven funding submissions had been made to Transport for NSW, totalling an area of almost 6,300 sq m. One submission has been approved, with the others still pending.
Approved works are fully funded under NSW Disaster Assistance Arrangements.
Council is promising regular maintenance on the unsealed sections until reconstruction works can be completed.
“Crews were on site last week and are due to return at the end of this week,” a council spokesperson said.
Council has estimated the cost of damage to Barmah Rd at about $375,000.
Council is still completing budget costs for all of the damages across the region.
