Stage two offers a short, scenic route for walkers and cyclists — a 3.1km extension from the Dookie CWA Gardens west to Conway Rd.
Giving it a whirl: Shepparton’s Audrey, Estelle, Lucille and Matthew Thorp ready to ride.
The works were partly funded by a $275,000 grant from the Federal Government’s regional jobs and investment package.
“The Dookie Rail Trail is ideal for families and those looking for a scenic walk or ride to see the beautiful sights of our region,” City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Kim O’Keeffe said.
Exciting day: Federal Member for Nicholls Damian Drum, Dookie Lions Club’s Peter McManus, City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Kim O’Keeffe and Deputy Mayor Anthony Brophy.
“Stage two takes participants through the Dookie town centre and past farming land, which showcases the classic cropping landscape of our municipality.
“Council appreciates the contribution of the Australian Government as a key funding partner and acknowledges the Dookie community in the role they have played in bringing this initiative to life.”
