The 40 lots in the ST Genetics sale, run by Dairy Livestock Services, averaged $11,350.
The sale started with a bang, when the Coombes family from Ellenborough successfully bid $36,000 for a three-year-old Holstein, Avonlea Master Vee-Twin, offered by Brad Gavenlock and Murray Polson.
The next lot offered by young Stanhope breeder, Zoe Hayes, sold to the Jones family from Foster for $22,000.
Zoe had raised the six-month-old heifer, Llandovery Lambda Shira, after securing her as an imported embryo. She was elated with the result.

Other high-selling lots were purchased by Maxmount, Smethurst Park, McDonald Park and C. L. Cawcutt (Gorbro Hano O Princess, $18,000); M. and K. Walpole, Yalca (Scottsw Creek Unstopabull Miranda, $18,000); and Loxby Brown Swiss, Laceby (Tandara Dairystar Lola 99, $18,000).
The sale breakdown by breed:
Holsteins: Twenty-one sold for a total of $278,000 and a $13,238 average.
Brown Swiss: Two sold for a total of $30,000, with a $15,000 average.
Illawarra: Three sold for a total of $28,000 with a $9333 average.
Guernsey: Two sold for a total of $20,000 with a $10,000 average.
Ayrshire: Six sold for a total of $58,000, with a $9666 average.
Jersey: Six sold for a total of $40,000, with a $6666 average.
This heifer which won the Junior Champion Interbreed sash at IDW 2024, sold for $18,000.
