About 450 students from Echuca College, Echuca Specialist School, St Joseph’s College, Moama Anglican Grammar and River City Christian College will put ink to paper inside St Joseph’s College’s Oak Centre on August 27, formally committing to further education, training and employment after school.
The Pathways Pledge Ceremony is organised by Echuca-Moama Beacon Foundation and has been running for 18 years.
“All the students make a public commitment to pursue further education, training or employment at the end of their schooling by signing a pledge board,” Beacon co-ordinator Cheryl Sweeney said.
“An inspirational speaker is invited to speak to the students on the day about their career journey and this year they will hear from successful AFL player Andrew Walker, who is now running the local business Gravity Shack, and is an ambassador for Echuca Moama Tourism.”
The pledge ceremony is part of Beacon's Real Futures program which supports young people successfully transition from education to meaningful employment.
