The Jerilderie Medical Centre is losing Dr Sumita Saha as she starts the next chapter of her professional career in Melbourne.
Dr Sumita joined the practice in February 2016 and immediately made an impact within the community, and has been doing so since.
She felt the support of her community since arriving but said she had to move back to Melbourne due to family commitments.
‘‘My time spent working at Jerilderie Medical Centre has been very enjoyable,’’ she said.
‘‘The staff have been very welcoming, supportive and a pleasure to work with.
‘‘Jerilderie is a lovely town, the people are very friendly.
‘‘Due to family commitments I have made the decision to move back to Melbourne.’’
Jerilderie Medical Centre general manager Wendy Smith said Dr Sumita has had a positive impact on the the community since starting her role.
‘‘She has given our patients the choice of seeing a male or female GP and provided much needed women’s health services for our female patients,” she said.
‘‘Her role at the practice was to provide general medical management and treatment, as well as specialist and diagnostic investigation referrals.
‘‘It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Dr Sumita over the time she has been part of our practice.
‘‘She is always happy, friendly and caring towards both staff and patients.’’
Ms Smith acknowledged the great work Dr Sumita did and knows the community is sad to see her go.
‘‘On behalf of Dr Assem and all the staff we wish Dr Sumita and her family all the best for their future in Melbourne, they will be sadly missed,’’ she said.
According to Ms Smith, the position remains unfilled at this time.
