Mrs Robinson will be in Echuca-Moama on Sunday as the Australia Day ambassador for the twin towns'celebration of the national day.
Katryna Robinson founded the charity, ‘Every Little Bit Helps’ in 2014 after seeing homeless people sleeping rough on her daily commute.
Her husband, a regular traveller for work, had accumulated hotel and airline toiletries and Mrs Robinson realised these could be put to better use and help people in need.
For five years, “Every Little Bit Helps” has been collecting unused toiletries, putting them together in care packs and distributing them to people through homeless shelters, women’s shelters and other outreach homeless services.
Mrs Robinson runs the charity on a pro-bono basis while also working full-time as an IT Recruiter and running her own business, Talent Finders.
Despite never being to Echuca-Moama before, Mrs Robinson said she was excited to visit on Australia Day.
“I know that both towns are made up of some amazing people who give a lot back so it’s an absolute honour for me to come and meet people just like me who are doing things for the local community,” she said.
This will be Mrs Robinson's third time as an Australia Day Ambassador and she said this year’s address will be about kindness and supporting each other.
“We’ve had a tough year, more than anything I think we need to support each other in everything that we do,” she said.
“Obviously the drought has consumed several years now and beyond that we’ve obviously been ravaged by bushfires in three states, and seen loss of life.
“Playing out in the background of all of that is the homeless population increasing which obviously I’m concerned with and what our charity supports.
“I’m hoping this brand new decade we have will bring respite for a lot of people,” Katryna said.
This year’s Australia Day will once again be a joint event hosted by the Rotary Club of Echuca-Moama.
The day kicks off with a free barbecue breakfast in the Botanic Gardens at Moama Recreation Reserve at 7am.
The official program begins at 7:45am, MC’d by Rotary’s assistant governor Cliff Downey, with an address from Australia Day Ambassador, Katryna Robinson
After the ceremony enjoy live entertainment from the Federal Band, Echuca-Moama Theatre Company Chorus and Mick Crawford.
Vintage cars and motorcycles will be on display, with face painting and a jumping castle for the kids.
Mrs Robinson will also be speaking at Rotary’s Australia Day Eve dinner at Moama Bowling Club.
The event will start at 6pm, dinner is $30 a head which includes a two-course meal and drinks at bar prices.
