After about six months of moorings moved further upstream, the public will soon see council’s vision for the area realised.
“The redevelopment is progressing well, dependent on weather, the project is on track to be completed by the end of March and will be opened once all final certificates of compliance are received,” Campaspe Shire economic and community development general manager Keith Oberin said.
“Currently underway and to be completed are viewing platforms, the southern service driveway and wood drop off, footpath sections and car parking bays along Watson St, barbecue and kiosk shelters, footpaths leading into the top kiosk area, landscaping works of top section and lawn areas along Watson St, street furniture and power connection into the redeveloped area.
“Once completed, inspections and certifications by authorities will be required.”
Stage one of the project saw a complete overhaul of the kiosk which will feature a café on the top deck and the ground level will provide storage for local boat operators.
The $5 million project has been jointly funded with the Federal Government contributing $2.6 million, Victorian Government $1.3 million and $1 million from council.
