Owner-manager Scott Worsnop said restrictions had in fact had an opposite effect on the business.
“We have found a lot of people are using these unusual times to look at things around home they do not generally have time for,” he said.
“This has meant being able to redecorate bedrooms, replace mattresses and couples may now have time to shop together due to changes in their work schedules.
“We have found our adjustable base range throughout this time has flourished, as well as our storage bed options.
“People are wanting to use space and gas lift or drawer beds are perfect options.”
Like all local and national businesses, Mr Worsnop said Forty Winks had to change its day-to-day running.
“When the first COVID-19 restrictions started, we immediately started to look at our processes and ensure we were meeting all requirements,” he said.
“Throughout all restrictions, it has made part of our customer service we provide and pride ourselves on a little more difficult.
“However, our local community and customers are very supportive of us and worked with us so we could ensure we were keeping everyone safe while still operating.
“Our customer and staff safety are a high priority to all of us at Forty Winks.”
Forty Winks has specialised in a good night’s sleep in for the past 32 years.
“We spend one third of our lives in bed, so it important that we have the right support and pressure relief to ensure we are getting the best night’s sleep,” Mr Worsnop said.
A new diagnostic system, exclusive to Forty Winks, can even match you to a mattress best suited to your body type and unique sleep needs.
“We BedMatch our customers to ensure we find the correct support and can then focus on finding the correct pressure relief and comfort for their needs,” Mr Worsnop said.
“We are finding couples are looking more at adjustable bases now, for not only the health benefits but for other reasons such as pressure relief and improved circulation and for lifestyle reasons.
“A lot of people watch TV, read and use their laptops in bed so with the added features like USB ports and under bed lighting it makes sense to have one.”
And with more than 65 mattresses and 27 bedroom suites on display, there is a mattress to suit the most discerning of sleepers.
“Sleep health is everything and we are constantly learning of the side effects of not getting enough good quality sleep,” Mr Worsnop said.
