All in the safety of their own home.
With COVID-19 restrictions cancelling all day trips, Echuca Community for the Aged organised an ice-cream van to come to them.
“We normally go out for ice-cream around this time every year, either down to the local ice-creamery or a trip out to Lockington, so we thought why not bring the ice-cream to us,” lifestyle co-ordinator Melinda Mundie said.
“We did some searching and found an ice-cream van in Deniliquin, gave the owner and call and he was happy to come down for the afternoon.”
Melinda said the excitement was heard throughout the centre on Tuesday, November 17, as residents and staff patiently waited for the van to arrive.
“Residents all ventured outside to order their ice-cream and spent some time reminiscing and enjoying the beautiful weather that we had,” she said.
“Choc-dipped was the number one hit for the day.”
Residents are already asking when the ice-cream van can come back.
