Echuca Regional Health's Cancer and Wellness Centre has passed $880,000 in fundraising, the most recent donation coming from Echuca Moama Artists.
The group donated $3000 to the new centre, raised through an art project earlier this year.
About 30 artists — mainly local, but including contributors from as far afield as Melbourne — painted more than 150 pieces, nine-by-five boards, and donated them back to be exhibited and sold at the Alton Gallery.
Committee secretary Maryanne Jenkins said they wanted to support a worthy local cause through their art and put the money back into the community.
“We’ve had cancer touch a few members,” she said.
“We’d like to say thank you to all the artists who participated.”
ERH medical day treatment nurse unit manager Lyn Jeffreson thanked the group for its contribution towards the $1.3 million target.
“It’s a very generous contribution from a small community group and shows the vibrancy in our community and how people are coming together and supporting this local initiative to improve health care,” she said.
