The group invited interested community members to join in the celebrations at their 17-hectare riverine forest bush site.
The new activity hub was made possible through a $18,982 grant from the NSW Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport through their Community Building Partnerships program.
The container, complete with side opening doors, now sits on the highest point on the property, ready to be used for future events and activities.
More than 60 people found their way to the site following the balloons on the track to where the container was sitting at the highest point on the property.
At the opening event, Bridge Art Project Chairman Chris Bilkey said the container would “provide great opportunities for education and cultural experiences, in this amazing community space”.
The Echuca Bellas attended the event and entertained the crowd with live music.
Attendees were treated to a heartfelt poem by Aunty Vicki Walker as the Welcome to Country.
Madi Colville-Walker and the Echuca Bellas (formerly known as Bella A'Capella) also provided live music.
As the cold continued on the day, guests enjoyed a menu of hot soup, a sausage sizzle and hot coffee.
In addition to the development of the 17ha site, the Bridge Art Project is working towards building a new community art gallery at 74 Meninya St.
The gallery will be constructed largely off-site and delivered in modules which are assembled on-site.
The $7m gallery project will be built by mid-2026 and will include a raised pedestrian walkway to connect the gallery to the 17ha site.
