Looking over your shoulder when you fire up the drone and wonder whether you have permission?
Colbinabbin winery Shiraz Republic is offering the Cornella Canola walk in the nearby flowering canola fields.
Shiraz Republic manager Spencer Page said this was the third year they had opened up their paddocks sown down to canola.
“Some farmers think we’re a bit mad, but about 1500 people turned up last year,” Spencer said.
“It’s a good opportunity for people who don’t have to sneak onto properties without asking for permission.”
Spencer said some visitors embraced the idea by changing into formal clothes for posed photographs.
About 900 people had visited by September 13, but hundreds more were expected on the weekend.
“We’re hoping to break 2000 this year,” Spencer said.
Tickets for the walk from Friday to Monday until October 4 (subject to change) are $10 per adult, $5 per child, children under five free or $30 for a family pass.
Shiraz Republic is off the Heathcote-Rochester Rd at Cornella.
